『Nexus』（2024）を読む（その1）

Yuval Noah HarariのNexusを読んでいて、CHAPTER 3 Documents: The Bite of the Paper Tigersにある以下の文章は鶴見太郎氏の『シオニズム』（2025）でも出てこない話であったが、そのあとのHerzlやBialikは取り上げられていたので少しわかったような気になった。

“Sarah Aaronsohn and the NILI underground are remembered by prsent-day Israelis as some of the first Zionists who risked their lives in the 1910s to establish a Jewish state in Palestine, but from where did NILI members get this idea in the first place? ” p.40

Sarah Aaronsohnが第一次世界大戦の時にイギリスのために活躍したユダヤ人のスパイ組織（NILI）のメンバーの話とは最所に読んだ時はわからないで飛ばしていた。もっとも、この章はStoryの力がテーマなので事例として扱っている部分なので趣旨を掴むには関係がない。

Harariの揚げる事例はTotalitarianではThe Nazisやthe Soviet Unionになるので、歴史に向き合うことの大切さを感じる。
